Red Star Belgrade Rugby League Club continued is unbeaten run in Balkan’s region defeating Radnicki Niš in Serbian Cup Finals 42:12 (half 12:6). It was first ever finals for the hosts at SC Čair stadium as they played spirited first half.
Converted try from Milos Tamburić gave Radnički a lead in the first quarter of the game, but it was all red star resulted wise from that moment. Guided by Aleksandar Djordjević’s hat trick and a brace form returning captain Vojislav Dedić secured much more comfortable second half for guests from Belgrade.
“Two seasons ago they surprisingly beat us on their home ground, so we knew it won’t be easy game for us”, said Red Star captain Vojislav Dedić who recovered from injury in time for finals. “They really had a strong second half, but we played much better after the break and took a deserving win”.
Also on the score sheet for Serbian and Balkan champions were Petar Milanović and Daniel Watson as they retained Serbian Cup. It is the third Cup for Red Star and second trophy this season, after they early season win in Serbian Super Cup.
